It works, but you have to be intentional about how you mount it. All three joints move in a single direction, so don’t assume you will have the ability to change the direction later on. I have a similar mount-on-the-wall light which allow for more movement and I somewhat expected that to be a standard. Also, you should plan to use a shorter bulb if you don’t want it sticking out. This was a nice replacement for the original builder grade light we had, it comes with cord attached to utilize as desk lamp but easy to remove and wire to the wall if you have experience.
