I bought two of these carved door cabinets and could not be more pleased. They are incredibly well made and very sturdy. There is no wobble when you open the doors, and the doors are very symmetrical and clothes easily. The design is a lovely Bohemian style. I left the legs off of mine and put one on top of the other and secured it to the wall to form a hutch. It is just beautiful and everyone who sees it thinks it looks great. I couldn’t be happier with these bookcases. They look beautiful, feel sturdy once assembled, and offer a surprising amount of storage. The combination of open shelving, drawers, and cabinet space makes them both functional and attractive. Assembly is definitely a two-person job and is a bit involved. Our first bookcase took about four hours to assemble, but by the time we built the second one, we’d learned the process and finished it in under three hours. One tip for future buyers the instructions have you attach the hinges to the cabinet doors first and then install them after the cabinet is fully assembled. We found it much easier to attach the hinge hardware to the cabinet frame before installing the top panel, then attach the doors as the final step. It’s still a little fiddly, but it’s much easier than trying to work in a cramped space with tiny screws. Overall, these bookcases exceeded my expectations. Our experience was excellent. Cabinet was packaged very well for shipment. We were a bit hesitant to purchase based on reading the very few negative reviews on this product (one or two reviews discussing damage during shipment and one or two reviews showing what they considered inferior wood finishing and quality). Here's the deal.....the cabinet is shipped with very clear instructions showing which end should be "up" during shipment. It's shipped with the cabinet upside down to protect the legs from damage. If the shipping company doesn't pay attention to the shipping instructions and is rough with the box, I could see where potential damage to the legs could happen. The shipping company that delivered ours must have paid attention to the instructions as ours arrived in perfect condition. Regarding the comments about the wood being rough and unfinished, I'd classify this product as having a slightly distressed look with a bit of white washed look to the wood. I'm certain that was the intent of the manufacturer and that was the look we wanted. Regarding comments about the drawer quality, I get it. These are not dovetail drawers and are what I'd classify as pretty cheaply made. But, we didn't purchase this to hold 20lbs of weight in a drawer. I think they'll be just fine if not abused. And yes, the actual cabinet (sides, bottom and internal framework is made of metal and powder coated to the color you see in the pics. You would never know that just by looking at it. Instructions are easy to follow pictures, but we found that putting hinges on panels 2 and 3, right from the start made it easier to put doors on at the end, since it’s hard to screw on when everything is put together. The trick at the end is to make sure the hinges are in closed position then place door holes over hinge, as if the door was completely closed. Then slowly open the door and the hinge will be in correct position to screw the remaining screws on door backside. Also double check that panel 5 is in correct position with locking mechanism near panel 4, otherwise you will have the holes of the mechanism on the top side of the shelf when finished and will have to use oak stickers to cover up the silver hardware. Looks as pictured. The drawer feels sturdy, and the cabinet doors were easily aligned. However, this bookcase comes in a lot of different pieces with over thirty steps. It wasn't difficult to assemble but did take about 6.5 hours to complete with one person, and while it came with a small screwdriver, I would highly recommend just using your own larger screwdriver, if you have it, to spare your fingers..
