Our last cantilever umbrella broke at the hinge (in pictures) the hinge is plastic and unfortunately this one has the same type of hinge. With any good breeze, it will snap and fail. The umbrella itself is nice and I like the clasp for securing it better than Velcro ones. We noted that the pole where the crank is leaked water only when you extend the umbrella and has no way for water to run through when you have the umbrella closed. The only part that is a little flimsy is the extensions that go into the fabric.
