This Spartan Helmet took my eye right away! Initially, I thought of both of my sons who love this period of time, but in the end, I kept it for myself! It is made well, but when you first take it out of the plastic wrap it does have an odor, maybe of paint. It looks like a mixture of bronze and black. The size looks comparable to a typical helmet. On its stand it appears to be about 16” high. The big decision is to whether have a frontal view or a side view, showing off the feathers of the helmet. The highlight of Paris in the Bella epoque era was the Grand Prix horse race at Longchamp. Afterward the fashionably dressed gathered for dinner at the Armenonville Pavilion, a sparkling restaurant on the shore of Bois de Boulogne, bringing together the many of the beautiful people and varied personalities and classes including the pictured notorious Spanish actress and dancer, La Bello Otero star of the Folies-Bergere. Gervex, sometimes considered an Impressionist, was also an academic and classically trained painter who favored larger works including wall panels. On one of his many travels, Gervex was commissioned to paint portraits of the Czar Nicholas II and the Russian royal family. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. This replica European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. I struggled with what rug to get for our primary suite, and I am happy I settled on this one! It was a really good price, and I think it works well in the space. There is a lot more to do in this space – – we have ordered a picture for above the bed from Wayfair and lamps from another source because I didn’t find exactly what I wanted on Wayfair this time. I’ve also ordered a floor lamp with a scalloped rattan shade for behind the chair from Wayfair – – it is from Joss and Main, which is a Wayfair company. I am really excited to get these other items and will share reviews and photos once I receive them. The rug is soft and easy on the feet, which is what we wanted for this space. There were a number of Jutte rug options that would have worked aesthetically, but it was not the feel we wanted on our feet when we get into an out of our bed.
