This came just in the nick of time with temperatures getting in the in the unbearable ranges. It was easy to put together and install without directions but I still did read directions to make sure everything perfect based on previous experiences with portable AC units. I have this in a 9x12 room and on the first night, it took quite some time to cool down, the room temperature was 93 when I started it around 9 pm and it reached 73 around 2 am. The unit works very well. It cools quickly, and it's not too loud, for a portable AC. It's even smaller than the old one it replaced. I"m very satisfied with it. I took out a star for the delivery; it was quick, but they must have dumped the box from a moving truck. One of the panels in the installation kit that goes on the window arrived broken. The AC itself turned out to be undamaged, and I was able to install it without the broken panel. Wayfair offered me a partial refund and everything was OK. This is a fantastic portable AC! It works exceptionally well and I love its features, like how the vents move in opposite directions for maximum breeze and how the temperature display is also a thermostat. Portable is debatable, because it weighs 70 lbs. I am not strong, and I thought I would need to hire someone to help my husband get it up 2 flights of stairs. But then I cut out two holes near the top of the box to use as handholds and that provided all the extra help I needed. After it was delivered, I let it sit there for a couple of days and then I did not turn on the AC for another two days after dragging it up the stairs. The only problem was mine, because the window frame is 26 inches wide and the panel where the hose attaches and feeds out is almost 27 inches. I had to measure the excess and use a small hacksaw to saw off the tiny bit of excess plastic. Luckily this was not particularly difficult! I have had the A/C unit for a year now and used for a space with about 1000 sq ft. With the help of a few box fans, due to layout of area cooling, it has worked quite well. The 90+ degree days were a little harder to keep cooler but never went above 78 degrees (west side sunset made it difficult to hold temp). It is about as loud as a window A/C as the compressor is putting out a lot. I consider it white noise and not an issue. The only down side for me was not having a suitable place to run water line from unit as it dispelled but used plastic storage tub and made it work. Not the fault of the unit but something to consider when needing to use. Worked for watering outdoor plants Overall, I would say if you can handle the sound and a place to let water run out, it'll get the job done. Definitely things to consider.. Cheryl.
