I had no problem getting used to the bed, yes it was a little harder than the one in the store and I phoned to make sure I got the soft because it was no where on the mattress that it was a soft, she checked and assured me I did and it would soften up. It's a very thick bed which lends to its comfortability factor. My little kiddo and my cats love sleeping with me in this bed, and it's held up very well.
