Yucca rostrata, known commonly as Adam's Yucca, Beaked Blue Yucca, Beaked Yucca, Big Bend Yucca, Nordstrom's Yucca, Silver Yucca is a trunk-forming yucca that is native to the Big Bend region of West Texas, Chihuahua and Coahuila, where it grows in desert conditions, where sandy soil and distinct daytime and nighttime temperatures reign. This tree-like yucca is an extremely ornamental, slow-growing evergreen, with a perfectly symmetrical pom-pom-like form. Its form includes hundreds of 2 foot long leaves. The leaves have sharp points and are an attractive pale blue-green color. The rosette of leaves sits at the top of the trunk. The trunk is covered with the remains of old leaves which are soft fibers. Beautiful yellow-orange stalks appear at the top of the plant in late spring. The stalks have clusters of white flowers. This tree-like plant has leaves that are soft, unlike other varieties of yucca, making this a less dangerous plant. One of the hardiest trunk-forming yuccas, it tolerates cold up to zone 5. While full sun is ideal, it tolerates part shade so long as it gets at least three hours of sun. The common name 'Big Bend Yucca' arises from this species being found in its natural habitat of the Big Bend are of the Rio Grand River. Big bend yucca needs to grow in full sun for best results. Place it in a well-lit spot in your backyard. As a winter hardy plant, its suited to USDA Zones 5 through 11. While this yucca tolerates heat with no issues, it will need protection in times with consistent temperatures below -10F (-23C).

This is a must have in the garden. This Beautiful and exotic palm is considered cold hardy. They can resist temperatures down to 25 degrees F. The Red Feather Palm is a large, robust palm that has pinnate palm with broad leaflets. Their leaves are deep shade of green re-curving and drastically arching leaves. It has a swollen crownshaft which makes it very appealing sitting above the beautifully ringed trunk. The leaves are dark green and leathery in touch and appearance when mature. The Red Feather Palm is very easy to care after. These exotic and rare cold hardy palms thrive in a well-drained, moist climate with full sun to light shade. It is also know as the blushing Palm, Watermelon Palm, Red Feather Palm, and Red Leaf Palm. It also has one new emerged leaf that will be red to maroon in color but will fade after 2 weeks. This rare palm tree is a slow growing palm tree with a maximum average height of about 15-20 ft.
