I’m extremely happy with this desk. The wood top is exceptionally nice and I did purchase an inexpensive faux leather blotter to protect it from my scribbles—it’s quite handsome and I don’t want to ruin it in a clumsy moment. Good quality for the price. It did take 4-5 hours to assemble as others said in their reviews, but it went together perfectly and is solid. The factory workers did an exceptional job of packing and labeling everything. It does need to be placed against a wall rather than having the back face the room. The large “file drawer” is not sized like a file cabinet would be (smaller) but file folders will fit. It’s a small-ish desk…not an “executive desk,” but for me it has plenty of storage and I especially like having the two-shelf cabinet at bottom left. These bookshelves look amazing in my craftroom. We purchased 3 of them, each one took my husband approximately 3 hours to put together. He then used his own hardware to secure them together to make it look like one large unit. The doors all open well, the shelving seems sturdy enough for my supplies. I only purchased these because of the huge discount, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for “built in craftsmanship,” this option is not for you. We knew we would be downsizing in a few years and did not want to invest a huge amount of money for built ins. Having said that, these units are the showcase of my craftroom! This bookcase was purchased to replace one that was significantly smaller. Additionally, the other bookcase was made of laminate and pressboard that was of decent quality, but didn't quite have the quality to last for the time we desired. Once we received our shipment from Wayfair and unboxed all the pieces, I could see immediately that the quality of the material was far superior to not only our previous bookcase, but also several other products we've purchased from Wayfair. The finish was smooth as silk, and the stain was evenly applied throughout. The hardware to assemble the bookcase was also of superior quality to some of the cheap packs that arrive with other D-I-Y assembled products. NOTE: This product can be assembled by one person, but it would be much quicker and easier with two (or three if you're like me with two eager-to-help young 'uns). One of the trademarks of solid wood furniture is the weight of the finished product. This one indeed was heavy. Granted, non-solid wood furniture can be heavy, but if any of it is light, you can be assured the quality is slight! All in all, we are very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it.. However, once the packaging was removed, the bookcase put in its proper place the matter of how to remove the wood wedges (placed on the left and right sides) holding the shelves in place became the major obstacle of frustration. It's like getting in your car to take a drive, you open the door, take a seat, put the key in the ignition, turn the key or push the button and nothing happens, looking at the gas gauge, you realize you have no gas. Went online to your website, located the item page, found there were instructions on how to remove the wedges. It’s like being stranded in the desert with no water and no camel. There are 4 stacks with beveled glass, each stack is a separate block. There is no assembly required, each block is fully assembled with the doors. You will need to stack the blocks. No drilling or screwing.
