Hand-knotted in wool, this vintage 2x9 Turkish runner rug, circa 1950–1959 features geometric medallions and tribal motifs in ivory, sand, charcoal, blush pink, and sage tones. Its elongated design offers timeless decorative appeal. On the DesignThis vintage Turkish runner rug presents a striking geometric design distinguished by its unusually narrow proportions and disciplined symmetry. A warm sand-colored central panel extends the length of the field, framed on either side by a procession of geometric medallions and angular tribal motifs rendered in ivory, charcoal, sage green, blush pink, and muted taupe. The arrangement creates a rhythmic architectural quality that draws the eye along the runner while maintaining a refined sense of balance.Particularly noteworthy is the contrast between the minimalist center field and the richly ornamented side panels. Diamond medallions, stepped geometric devices, and stylized tribal motifs repeat with measured precision, lending the design both movement and structure. The soft, age-mellowed palette enhances the clarity of the drawing while contributing warmth and versatility. Rich in character yet restrained in execution, this piece exemplifies the enduring appeal of mid-century Turkish weaving traditions and the decorative sophistication of vintage runner designs.ConditionThis vintage Turkish runner rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
