This was a great purchase! I’ve been looking to replace my trashcan in my powder room, which has a vintage feel for a long time, but just couldn’t find the right one. This has the look in the champagne coloring works in the space. It is very nice quality a little more expensive than most would want to pay for a trashcan, but I believe it is worth it. The birthplace of the Renaissance, Tuscany is often called the art palace of Italy, and many of the world's greatest works of art come from the region. Stoneware has a long legacy in the area and maintains its place of importance in the region today. Signor Stefano Roselli is the master molder for a stoneware cooperative located in a small town seven miles outside of Florence, and he is the creator of this collection. Vietri has worked with Stefano and factory owner Franco Ammannati for close to 15 years, creating and bringing to market dinnerware collections, vases, urns, and other home decor products.

The understated elegance, clean lines, and unique shape of the Lastra 12" dinner plate make it a timeless choice for any table. Lastra's design was inspired by the circular wooden slabs used for centuries to create the outer mold in cheesemaking throughout Italy. When fashioned together with twine, the hoop was left with a slight overlap to help maintain the shape of the cheese mold. Maestro molder Stefano Roselli incorporates the overlapping detail into the entire design, from its foot to its rim. A dark dusting on the edges of each piece suggests the ash that was used to preserve these cheeses and highlights each unique silhouette.
