This planter is beautiful and looks to be very well made and durable. I suspect it will last through several Chicago winters. I wish I had known that there is no "bottom" to the container - as we intend to use it on a rooftop deck. This planter is meant to be placed over soil. I also wish they would provide a way to section off the lower part of the planter, so that not so much soil needs to be used. My toddler asked for a garden for his birthday, so I searched all over the internet to find something durable, made of safe/quality materials, a good size for a toddler, and affordable. I ordered well before his birthday expecting a long ship time, but surprisingly it arrived at the door within days. It took 2 adults roughly 1. 5 hours to assemble with minimal issues (though I suspect my dad kept reading the directions wrong lol). It’s the perfect size for herbs and flowers, while being a great height for young kids! We took our toddler to a few garden shops and collected a pepper plant, basil, oregano, thyme, cilantro, a petunia, and 2 marigolds. Everything fits well. Our toddler is so happy and so proud of his garden. It’s been 2 weeks and all his plants have doubled or tripled in size, AND there’s a pepper growing. My parents like his garden so much, they want one for their porch too. I’m even thinking we will get a second one as a Christmas gift. I’m happy to have found something designed intentionally for a child that allows him to explore gardening and learn to respect where our food comes from.
