We put it on the corner of our patio so we can have it over our grill while cooking dinner, then rotate to be over our dining table while eating, and rotate again to be over the grass for the kids to play in the shade. This was a replacement for our original adjustable cantilever umbrella that broke within 2 months (and was not returnable or refundable). In spite of that bad experience, I decided to try again but went with a non-adjustable one this time This one can be raised or lowered and thats it. So it has far fewer moving parts that can break. Works perfectly and was super easy to setup - although quite heavy, so I suggest being 2 people for the initial setup. Also, note that it requires a sturdy base - sold separately, which is the main reason I still bought from this manufacturer a 2nd time since I already had the base from the first umbrella that broke..
