Make sure your electric drill is fully charged and ready to go, as there are quite a few screws involved in securing the slats. Once it's up, though, the payoff is immediate. This pergola offers a perfect reprieve from the sun throughout the day, featuring a smooth louvered system that is incredibly easy to operate. Each side opens and closes with one fluid motion, giving us precise control over exactly how much sunlight we let in. The wood grain coating on the aluminum frame adds an elegant and timeless touch. First opening the box, it looked to be a major undertaking. However it was a simple job. Just a few notes : some of the pieces are heavy, especially the umbrella holder and might need a second person. The raising and lowering handle was a bit tedious to line up the hole. UPDATED: The manufacturer of the umbrella called me to discuss the review-which as noted was really about Wayfair and their CS-not the quality of the umbrella-which is great btw. Changing to 5 stars because the actual umbrella is fantastic and they shouldn't be penalized for Wayfair's poor customer service. It was nice to speak with them and suggest how to be clearer with their marketing so folks don't buy the wrong base. The one star is for Wayfair customer service (now changed to 5) and not the product. Please note the description (counter weight base needed) and so I bought one. Got it ready with sand and water. Went to assemble the umbrella and there are no cross braces included. Description lacking is an understatement. So now I have an umbrella with a counter weight base I can’t return and no way to use with this umbrella because this company doesn’t send standard what every other company considers standard to buyer beware only order a counter weight base you can attach the umbrella directly to because no one sells the cross bars typically used with these umbrellas.
