This is a very heavy light so I put it all together and screwed in the light bulbs before hanging it. I really needed something asymetrical in my dinning room because my dinning room table does not perfectly fit in the center of the room because of needing walkway to the back yard. My house is also midcentury modern so this light was absolutely perfect. One thing I did learn is that if you have a dimmer switch you need to buy light bulbs that will accomodate that - it's not a light thing but a bulb thing so make sure you buy the correct bulbs.. Settled on this fixture for our kitchen after having looked at hundreds of options online. Actually decided on two of the same. It's very nice, of good quality. However, the online picture is not what the fixture actually looks like. Online, it shows vertical bars positioned in such a way that one can assume there are 6 in total around the fixture. However, the 16" size came with only 3. There may be 6 in the larger size, but not the 16" size. We've tried bright/day white bulbs and the soft white variety. Both give off great light.
