The opening of the vase was a very nice size, and we were able to put a wide variety of flowers into it. We wanted a vase tall enough that it could be clearly visible when you walk through the front door, and the height was great coming up to the chair rail. The vase is very rounded at the bottom, but I wish there was more of a flat bottom. The picture shows the vase as being a golden, metallic look, and it is a very dull gold.
