We specifically bought this bookcase because the description stated the shelves were metal. Upon arrive, however, the shelves were MDF (manufactured wood) which is the very thing we were trying to avoid. This is a great little dehumidifier. We got it for our basement because our old one was getting old and starting to have problems. This one is smaller and a lot quieter. The hose in the back is small. Our old one had a bigger hose and would still get clogged up so I'm concerned about that, but so far it hasn't been a problem. Overall, I'm glad we got it.. Michelle.
