There is a button in the app to "continue to limited version" which is supposedly free but there is no free version. It simply sends you in an endless loop where you are prompted to pay them to use the app. The manufacturer and product listing are dishonest and you're asking for trouble purchasing this fan. If you lose the remote or the remote brakes, you lose all ability to control the light or the fan. That was the entire purpose of purchasing a smart enabled fan so that if something happened to the remote it doesn't brick the device. This is outright fraud. Do not trust this listing.. Christian. It was easy to add this fan to a location where a porch light was no longer needed. I purchased a 3 way switch and connected inside so that we can change the speed with a wall switch. I did not add any additional wiring, so it does not oscillate. However, it is mounted in a 9x9 ft space, so that is not a problem. It is very comparable in sound and pressure to the same desk top fan that I use in my bedroom.
