I have one of these that was frozen with rust. I had to hacksaw the rod and then drill it out. I replaced the rod with a 5/16 stainless steel bolt after threading the base and sharpening the head end. I did the same, with the new one, to eliminate the problem. This one was to replace an older one we had that was damaged in a storm. It’s not an exact match and not painted like our original. Disappointed in the design changes which was probably done to lower costs. Some of the character is gone. We’ll put together a better one since I can paint the new one and we can use salvageable parts from the damaged one. Not the sellers fault.
