This is a 'solid wood' desk but it still feels cheaply made. I have had lots of time to review the pieces as it did not come with assembly instructions. I have requested them and it apparently takes a whole business day to respond with the instructions that should have been included. If you think you may want assembly, make sure you order at the same time. My order gave me the option after the fact, and I tried to add the service and it charged my card. Then the message (and follow up chat) told me it wasn't eligible to add assembly. Now I have to wait 3-5 days for the charge to be reversed. When ordering this desk I was a little nervous since it had no reviews but I wanted to give it a chance. And it ended up working out great! The wood is really sturdy and not a cheap material. The top is a heavy board that is edge and finger joint glued together and finished in veneer. The legs are also fingerjointed boards. It generally looks nice, but the finish is quite sloppy. there are some rough spots where it was not thoroughly sanded too. I purchased this table because it was on sale.
