This shade sail is made of a thick but flexible material that should provide just the right amount of protection from the sun without being a total "sunblock" (or completely waterproof) and the reinforced attachment points on the sail seem sufficiently strong. I haven't yet installed it, but the included kit appears to be very comparable to the separate installation kit I ordered just in case the included kit was flimsier or more difficult to use. This particular brand of sail offered a lot of different size options, which is ideal if you are looking for a sail to fit a space with unequal distances between the triangle points. The sail I ordered measures 20' x 20' x 28.3'. it came with a installation hardware kit but I can't yet comment on whether the hardware kit works well. I also ordered another hardware kit in case I needed a different installation option than the one included. Unfortunately, Wayfair said it delivered both when I never received the additional hardware kit. After waiting 3 days to see if there was a problem with how the item was scanned, I have reported the missing delivery and hope that I will receive that other installation kit so that I can choose which kit will work better for installing the sai.. Why didnt I buy this shade sail earlier I cannot believe how much it has cooled our pool and how much more comfortable we are when we are outside. My 26 yr-old son even commented about how surprised he was when he got in the water today to escape the 96 degree temperature. He was surprised that the water felt cool instead of like a sauna! Would have been excellent had I measured correctly. I chose the 16x18 and need a 16x20 or 16x22. The harder you pull the corner cables in a diagonal direction, the more the sail cinches along the edges like a drawstring and the more the sail sags in the center. For the sail to be fully taut when hanging, it either needs to be within a foot or so to the post you’re securing it to or the line of pull needs to be perfectly aligned with the edges of the sail. I did leave it hanging like a curtain for a couple days when I realized there was no way I was going to get to hang properly. It absolutely does its job at shading and cooling an area significantly. Highly recommend. Just make sure to accurately measure and to not forget that measuring horizontally along the ground will underestimate the actual distance between the two attachment points if one is significantly higher than the other.. Excellent heavy duty shade sail!. The continuous wire and heavy duty corner brackets make it vey strong and will no doubt last. The grey goes perfect with my house color so I used it over my open front courtyard. Blocks out at least 90% of the sun as you can see in the picture I took looking directly at the sun. Perfect for the hot summer days in Coastal SC. This rectangle Royal Shade measuring 18 x 24 ft covers a large sitting space in our yard and more! We are thrilled with the ease of hanging. Mind you, we hung it out a few days to allow it to stretch out before really placing it where we wanted it. Do hang on an angle so water will run off...we imagine we will still have to push up the center to drain off if a heavy rain, but we haven't had that yet.
