It’s basically a nice topper for firming up a foam mattress, or adding a hypoallergenic layer overtop something that’s not rated as being very “green”. We first tried this over a firm latex pad, and it did not add much noticeable improvement in thickness or softness. Next, we tried this down pad over a 2 inch thick foam pad, and it made all the difference! I am not at all a fan of foam pads. However, using this topper over the foam pad makes the foam less susceptible to sinking! Love it! Terrific 100 percent cotton mattress protector! It fit like a glove and is padded with the softest cotton. It is difficult to find a mattress protector that is not made of some type of plastic. I understand people want the plastic to protect from spills. I did not want that. I simply wanted something more other than a thin sheet right against my new mattress.
