This rug is incredibly soft and comfortable to walk on. The shag provides a fun/different texture, which adds a lot. This rug works for me because it is under my bed- the rug I got does not lay flat at one end (like it was made wrong), so I'm hiding that end under the headboard and nightstands. The rug was packaged very well and it was easy to open. We just sat it in place and rolled it open. There is no smell at all. Some of the top and bottom edge will need to relax to lay completely flat. The rug looks a little bit different in color than the picture. However it is because of the deep shag.
