The Mikasa French Countryside flatware set is a quaint design, versatile enough to coordinate with multiple decorating styles. It has a highly polished finish which I plan to hand wash and dry most of the time, although Im sure it would hold up well in the dishwasher. The weight and balance is good, but I find it slightly more cumbersome to use than another set I have. In my pictures I show another older European sized set that is slightly larger, and a vintage set that I consider human sized, along with the Mikasa set in the center. These visually match our original Melon Bud pieces from 20 years ago with two differences. The first and more important difference is that original sets were 188, and these are 1810. The second and barely discernible difference is while the length of the knife is the same, it has a very slightly different curvature. No one would ever be able to notice these differences on your table (it’s tough to see even with two knives in hand looking for the difference) and the pieces still feel nice in hand, which was the original appeal.
