It is medium in firmness and some cushion in the back and the arms. It comes with a pillow, which provides extra back support and has a removable cover for easy cleaning. The swivel is smooth. Instructions could have been much clearer on how to install the backs of the chairs and love seat. All three had to be taken apart and reinstalled because of this . One of the cushions was missing the tie down strap. Resolution offered was a 5% credit not a replacement cushion. We would have preferred a replacement cushion but that was not offered as an option.
