The fabric is decent and the part that goes over the seat cushions has a backing to it that evidently is waterproof but for me what it did was keep that bottom place looking very tidy. It was only the color I was disappointed in. I was curious why people showing pictures did not tuck it in because it can be quite a tailored look if you take the time to tuck it all in nicely.. Al. Love this Cover !! Although for my small fabric covered rocking chair it’s a little large. (Be sure to measure your chair for the dimensions for proper fit if you want it to fit tightly !)
