Rubberwood fully FSC certified, finished with 8 coats of high gloss lacquer hand polished between each coat. Using a ceramic mechanism, the mill requires a clockwise motion to activate. The mills can be used for grinding either. Rock salt (dry salt crystals) or black peppercorns. Not to be used for sea salt, wet salt, dried wet salt, or pink peppercorns. Beautifully gift-boxed. Fashion designer Johanna Ortiz was inspired by French toile de Jouy and African wax prints when she imagined tropical safari, a wallpaper she loves so much that she has used it in her New York City boutique. Raised in Los Angeles, California, D’Alessandro was the youngest of three brothers. When art competition was a form of play for the brothers, it later grew into his obsession. D’Alessandro attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended Illustration, Sculpting, and Fine Art workshops in Fullerton Ca. After spending long periods studying different techniques, D’Alessandro's art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During D’Alessandro’s studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. D’Alessandro was able to indulge his earliest artistic preferences for people, nature, architecture, and landscapes in his illustration and personal pieces. He also painted family, friends, and gardens. He has done commissioned work for a variety of clients in music, publishing, and editorial. His work has been exhibited in numerous private and public collections.

My approach to pattern-making always starts with my fine art. The genesis of all these patterns is a good old-fashioned drawing, ink on textured paper, which always shines through. When you use one of my papers on your wall, you are papering your room with art. In a world where layering and storytelling are increasingly important in the way we decorate, all my wallpapers have a lot to say for themselves. That said, I have combined lush pattern-making with an experienced eye for what works on the wall, calculating repeat sizes and color fields to be perfectly balanced and extremely easy to use as a background for modern living.
