When not in use it is flush with the stovetop which helps create a flat seamless flow on the countertop. When we have used it, it works very well. The vacuum was $999 on another site so I tried Wayfair. The description was confusing as to what attachments came with it and for that reason I give it 4 stars. The vacuum is perfect.
