Rustic split bamboo slat fences have been used for centuries in many regions of the world where bamboo is available. The fireplace screen is exactly what I needed and is exactly what is advertised. It is fairly lightweight so there is no danger of it hurting the little ones but it is sturdy enough to keep them from getting into the fireplace. One oddity that we found was that it came with small feet that can be attached as supports for the back side but it would keep the screen from sitting flush with the wall. The directions are awful, there's a youtube video that shows a guy setting up a similar gate, his is French door style but the set up is very similar so it was helpful because we were totally lost trying to figure it out. Anyway its perfect for our needs. We needed to keeo 3 if our cats separate from one cat. They can slip through sometimes by messing with the side pole to move it over just enough to slip through but still this is a good enough solution for us. Easy to put together by myself. Took me about 35 minutes. Some of the metal to metal holes didn’t line up but all the other holes were pretty close enough to use the sharp screws. Haven’t bolted them to the porch floor yet so cannot review how well these stand up to high winds. Had a very strong urea smell so glad these are outside and not inside.
