This lively hand-block printed fabric, which was first created in 1922, features a stylized "Tree of Life" motif. The wallcovering pattern is digitally printed, on a grasscloth ground, with pigment-based dyes that fully emphasize the color variation typical of hand block printing. Directly interpreted from the fabric, it has been rescaled to make a coordinating grasscloth wallcovering.

Olof is a braided branch of bowing Rudbeckior that sets a friendly atmosphere in the room. The flower was cultivated as early as the 17th century by the botanist Olof Rudbeck (the elderly), who also got to name both the flower and our pattern.

Absolutely loved it! Not super easy to do as a first time wallpaper. It runs the risk of stretching and developing air bubbles, so have the necessary tools on hand, and it’ll work like a charm. Tomato

Based on an early 18th-century French document, Chinoise Exotique is a grand design depicting Chinese figures hunting exotic Indian animals. This pattern is a classic example of the kinds of chinoiserie patterns developed for export to the European market in the early 1700s. These fabrics became so popular that France passed a law banning them from sale out of fear that they would collapse the French textile market.

Palampores, or "Tree of Life" patterns, have their origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand painted and mordant dyed, and exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Pondicherry, now offered as a wallcovering, the colorways remain true to their 90's origins, highlighting the iconic filigree pattern amidst the exotic tree of life motif. The colorways were developed in 2015, with the filigree omitted from the fabric design. These wallcoverings and colorways remain true to the fabric's original design. Intricately detailed flowers and lush foliage accompanied by whimsical birds and playful squirrels add to its timeless appeal. The Milanese Armor that inspired our Milan Diamond Grasscloth and Appliqué Tape is a unique example of Italian armor made with German influences. Created around 1510, this rare example with fluted surfaces in German fashion is etched with Christian symbolism and references to the Bible, including images of the Virgin and Child and saints Paul and George as well as Latin inscriptions. The armor is adorned with richly gilt ornamentation that we’ve emulated in our products, which will add charm to any room they’re featured in. This wallcovering is made of laser-cut metallic cork appliquéd on grasscloth. The mix of materials in this textile creates an interesting texture that is both eye-catching and understated. Flowers were an interest Karin and Carl had in common. Karin liked to grow flowers, and the flowers triggered Carl’s desire to paint. They always had seasonal flowers in bouquets indoors, and Karin arranged all the flowers seen in Carl’s paintings.

Latte

Combat on foot between contestants separated by a waist-height barrier was a popular sport in European courts during the 16th and 17th centuries. Our Saxony products are inspired by the patterning on combat armor commissioned for Christian I of Augsburg during the 16th Century. The gilded adornments cover the breastplate and additional detailed areas to give the work a sense of craftsmanship and regal delicacy. The design is embroidered on linen and cotton fabric to emulate the decorative ironwork pattern of the armor's breastplate.
