I gave the mattresses about two days to fully expand and was surprised at how firm they are. Most "firm" mattresses are not very firm; however, I weigh just under 200lbs and I sunk in about a half-inch. It is a soft kind of firm, not a hard, cheap couch kind of firm. My wife laid on the top one and she was equally, pleasantly surprised. That says a lot, coming from her, as she has a bad hip and is very particular when it comes to mattresses. Was a little worried on ordering a replacement sleeper mattress online without seeing it in person but this mattress is great. You’ll need to let it fully inflate so your sofa will be out of commission during that time. Was also worried about the thinness and if it was going to be comfortable or fit a mattress pad ok..and the pad fits perfect on top and the weight of the mattress keeps the pad from curling up. Paul. When I got this, it was on a significant sale, so I could not pass it up. My husband thought we didnt need another dog bed but Winston quickly proved him wrong. Winston is about 58 lbs and this bed is a perfect fit. If he wants to he can stretch out, and if he wants to, he can make himself a cute little cozy corner. I would say that he seems to prefer this over his other beds, but hes really not picky when it comes to lying down. However, when I lay down next to him, I do like the support this one gives my neck.
