It’ll take some getting used to but the aesthetics are pleasing to my eyes. I went from dark cherry finish with box springs down to a distressed white platform bed. I can’t stop looking at it every time I walk into my room! Disclaimer It took 2 people approx 3 hours to assemble. If you’re doing it by yourself it’ll take much longer. It’s easier with at least 2 people and (if you’re the 2nd person go ahead and find you an allen wrench, it’ll go by faster than our 3 hours). Tip The box is heavy and much heavier if you’re going upstairs, so get some muscles to help you. Also check off each item as you take it out of the box, to make sure nothing is missing.. The headboard is beautiful. It was too heavy on delivery for my husband and me to bring it in off the porch but we unpacked it on the porch and carried each panel inside. Assembly was easy and so was positioning, as we just slid it into place. The adhesive tape provided to stick it to the wall is pretty pointless; it was packaged in such a way that part of it stuck to itself. But it wasn’t really necessary because the weight of the bed keeps the headboard upright. There was a pretty strong smell of varnish the first few days but it has diminished over time and was no worse than when my husband refinished a project in the basement. This headboard is very attractive, sturdy and well priced. I did think, though, that headboards had a universal fit to bed frames, and though this one did not, I left it free-standing against the wall with the bed frame unattached. It actually makes cleaning easier, as there's less weight when moving the bed. Word of advice -- if buying a separate headboard, check with CS whether it can be fitted to the frame.. Anonymous.
