I have had 2 of these for about 6 years now. They work fantastic for what we bought them for and they have been used for different breeds of pets over the years . The bottom was the only complaint I had . In all the pictures , it looks like a thick plastic , but ours came with metal bottoms with raised sides. It ended up working better when we housed rabbits in them since they couldn’t chew it up , but if you are using it for a puppy , make sure there is an absorbent liner in place. Also , as someone mentioned , the bars are a little weak if you have a determined puppy or dog .
