I’m converting from an upright to a canister vacuum, so I’ve had to change my technique in how I vacuum the house. Instead of starting at one end of the room and then stepping backward to make the next path as I’ve always done with an upright, that way just doesn’t work for a few reasons, but to keep this brief, instead I now pick a section of the room to start (my rooms are small to average in size at only 1100 sq feet total), so it’s usually towards the center of the room where I position the canister vacuum and begin a starburst pattern. I keep the canister vacuum relatively in the same spot, until I am ready to begin in another section. This way there is less moving of the canister vacuum. Now the hose and handle are quite long when combined on the Kenmore canister vacuum, not to mention sturdy, so I only reposition 2 or 3 times in my smaller-size rooms, and I’m done in that room. Pros are, it gets under furniture much easier than an upright, hands down, and it is quieter. A bonus of this machine is you can control the suction, and therefore that is done with changing the speed of the motor, so if you can do light cleaning at a lower suction and not feel like your waking the entire house., The noise level drops dramatically. For me, this alone seals the deal on this cleaning machine. I also liked that all the tools are stored on the body of the vacuum and covered, so they’re not getting knocked off, and I’m not having to constantly run to the closet to dig through a bag of parts looking for the right attachment. All full size vacuums should follow Kenmore ways of thinking and designing vacuum cleaners in my opinion. Even though I found my work around in my style of vacuuming, it is a bit more difficult to carry around, a bit bulky, but I am not at all regretting my purchase of a canister vac, and I highly recommend the option pop and go bagged canister vacuum by Kenmore. I think it does just as good, if not better, of a job than vacuums two or three times higher in price. It’s built sturdy, which makes it a little heavier, but I expect it to last for many, many years. I suggest you give this vacuum a test yourself and see if you agree. Pretty nifty and a game changer! We moved into a house with laminate floors but we still have area rugs too. So I did research on what I needed to not ruin the floors but keep them clean. Wow, this little vacuum is awesome, so much easier and faster than sweeping. AND it can vacuum underneath almost all of the furniture- it is practically flat! On carpet it seems to have a mind of its own though, it almost drags me along with it. I’m not sure if it is self propelled but it’s like holding back a persistent small dog from chasing a rabbit. ( maybe I'm old and not so steady!) A few draw backs- but nothing I can’t live with, but annoying: the design makes the vacuum not stand on its own. It’s top heavy so you have to lean against something or lay it down if you have to move something while vacuuming. When emptying the dirt receptacle - if you bang it too hard against a plastic garbage can the door falls off. I thought this was a one time accident but it has happened a few times. But on the positive side when this happens I clean the fallen door before putting it back on. I would’ve given this vacuum 5stars however I think the design could have been more functional. The description says corded so you’re not surprised that it’s not cordless, but the cord should at least be retractable. There is no where to put the cord other than to wrap it around the item itself, not sure how much damage that does long term. On a positive note, it is very easy to use, just the push of a button.
