These whiskey barrel planters are great. Our family has had three more just like them for 16 years. I now have three of these planters including the 39" rectangle. I'm planting root over rock bonsai in them all and that can get quite heavy when it comes time to replant! with this design, I can remove the slats from one side when the time comes and pull the whole composition out on a pizza paddle. I agree with the earlier review to drill screws for the top pieces, I also recommend securing the top boards in place first to make sure the sharp metal edges do not protrude above the wood. looks great poolside.. These come as two different pieces that fit together. They need some fluffing at first. They do have a strong plastic odor to them but I fortunately planned to use them outside. When we received the planter boxes we were delighted with how they looked. We haave had planter boxes by the steps of our back door for almost 20 years and every few years we need to replace the boxes. In the past the boxes were redwood without any lattice or decorative trim and we never had any comments on how they looked but this year we have had numerous comments on just how beautiful they look.
