This reclaimed wood floating wall shelf adds a rustic touch to kitchens, entryways and home offices. I was concerned about the weight of this floating shelf. It seemed strange to mount something so heavy to a wall since most of the items I will display on it won't weigh as much as the shelf on its own. There is a metal mounting bracket that you at first mount on the wall using the included screws. I had to screw holes in this bracket to match the width of the studs in the wall I planned to mount it to. Once the bracket was mounted on the wall, the shelf slides onto the lip easily. I am using this shelf as a makeshift mantel. The shelf is quite heavy and it feels like petrified wood. Overall it is a very attractive shelf and makes for an attractive fireplace mantel.. Richard. This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

The wood is reclaimed barn rafter and has all of the characteristics that you would expect from reclaimed barn wood. Thick and sturdy with handmade raw metal brackets that wrap up around the front of the shelf. Please note that the brackets must be mounted into wall studs. Mounting hardware is included. Shelves come with set screws that go up throughout the bracket into the bottom of the shelf to eliminate any movement due to any imperfections in the reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood is not perfect.

What a beautiful, solid shelf! It was perfect for this spot in our powder bathroom. I had been looking for just the right shelf for quite awhile spent a lot of time poring through photos and reviews. I did not realize how difficult it would be to find a shelf of this size, of good quality, and to not to spend 100… I am very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend. The walnut color is beautiful! I bought the 24 inch wide shelf. Keep in mind, the shelf itself is pretty heavy. You’ll definitely want to use the anchors provided, or be certain you are attaching it to wall studs. I do wish it was sold as a single, since I only needed one shelf. But, I’ll be looking for another spot in our home to hang the second one! Or might resell the extra one. Tip for installation once I found the height and measured where I wanted to center it on the wall, I marked the center hole and installed that anchor and screw, but left the screw kind of loose, so I could toggle the bracket with a level, and make sure the bracket was perfectly straight before continuing. I’m somewhat handy, and was able to install it myself within 45 minutes (including deciding on a perfect spot, measuring, gathering tools, etc.).
