Tried & True Honest opinion for the Royal Shade Sail Triangle with roping cables in the 18x18x18 size. Many of my friends have the canvas sunshades, always commenting either how heavy or moldy they can become after one season. I researched on WayFair for an ideal solution finding this particular style in the white color. Made out of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) this is considered to be a strong, lightweight, and durable thermoplastic made from petroleum. Known for its high strength-to-density ratio and excellent resistance to chemicals and moisture, it is one of the most widely used plastics in the world, however there are some draw backs as I temporarily hung it above my back patio. Ironically, as soon as this was delivered, my HOA advised to take everything down off of the house since I am scheduled for the upcoming painting cycle. Being hung temporarily, it was easy to hang, sun shining thru brightened the area under a canopy as providing an easy shade. The unveiling: packaged well, instructions and hardware included. I included the no no's on the instruction page as one has to wait for the fold wrinkles to iron out themselves over time, no regular ironing, no dryer, no dry clean, no scrubbing with a stiff brush or cleaners, no bleach as can lead to permanent breakdown of fabrics. UM.....alrighty then. The fabric is definitely a loose plastic weave with tiny air holes thru out to allow air flow. Not water proof (as stated) as I sprayed a hose over it, water does pool in any loose areas so make sure the fabric is very taught. Light weight for traveling and can be hung by one person. Included are pictures up close of the material as not really seen on the website. Now knowing what to expect, no surprises at this time, I am looking forward to hanging it up over the patio, and sitting under the canopy of shade for the upcoming summer heat. Enjoy!. Kelly. This was an experience. First, I couldn’t clear the utility lines at my house but my friend’s deck was perfect. We started out confident, but it didn’t last. The wrenching apparatus was our downfall. In the end we decided to forgo the winch process and hung it only using the locking mechanisms. The sail is great. It feels strong yet pliable and it’s the perfect shade of summer red. Perfect for the hot summer days in Coastal SC. This rectangle Royal Shade measuring 18 x 24 ft covers a large sitting space in our yard and more! We are thrilled with the ease of hanging. Mind you, we hung it out a few days to allow it to stretch out before really placing it where we wanted it. Do hang on an angle so water will run off...we imagine we will still have to push up the center to drain off if a heavy rain, but we haven't had that yet. this is a replacement for an older shade. Found the eyelets to be superior in this Royal unit but have not had time to install but from inspection the stitching is the key. With the prolonged winter in the mid-Atlantic, it finally got warm enough to install this. This is an extremely well-made and equipped sail. The material looks really good, and it is substantial, fairly heavy grade. The material is porous, so don't look for this to resist rain. All the hardware is provided. You don't have to go to the hardware store for anything. The ratcheting winches were easy to install and they do the job. The mounting rings on the sail and the edge wire reinforcements are solid and look like they will hold up under the stress of wind that the sail will undoubtedly need to endure. We love this so far!. I chose the Royal Shade Triangle Shade Sail with Hardware Kit & Rope in the 16 ft. x 16 ft. x 16 ft. size in beige, and it’s been a great addition to my outdoor space. I appreciate that it comes with the hardware needed for installation. The galvanized ropes feel sturdy, and the latches and carabiners made setup easier. The material itself looks strong and well-stitched. It provides good shade and helps keep the area underneath cooler. It doesn’t feel too hot sitting under it. I had some trouble getting it positioned just right and fully straight during installation, but once it was set up, it looks great. I haven’t experienced rain yet, so I can’t speak to water resistance. Overall, I’m happy with it and looking forward to enjoying more time outside with the added shade.. Rosa. San Diego. The steel cable that runs the entire perimeter of the shade material creates a more secure and tight finished looking shade. The included hardware is wonderful.
