I've read reviews that say that the top can open when you carry it by the top handle. Obviously that would be a disaster with a cat in the parking lot of the vet. So I always support the bottom when I carry it outside. The directions are awful, there's a youtube video that shows a guy setting up a similar gate, his is French door style but the set up is very similar so it was helpful because we were totally lost trying to figure it out. Anyway its perfect for our needs. We needed to keeo 3 if our cats separate from one cat. They can slip through sometimes by messing with the side pole to move it over just enough to slip through but still this is a good enough solution for us. This Carrier is just PHENOMENAL! We have a 9 month old domestic shorthair who comes along on car rides with us several days a week. This gate is perfect and has features I didn’t even know I needed! I originally bought a pet gate from another site, that just had the bars, and no plexiglass. Unfortunately, my cat kept trying to shove his face through, and I was worried about him hurting himself. The latch could also be opened if he were to jump up and pull down on it, and the gate had a lot of play in the middle, so it would wobble back and forth. I returned it and got this gate. It took care of all of the issues I had regarding the first one! No more fear of my cat trying to push his face through the bars, the latch is cat proof, and it is much more stable! I didn’t even have to add the bonus hardware half way up to add to the stability. I also love the added feature of the door swinging both ways, as it makes it easier to keep my cat back who tries to get out at times when I am coming through the gate.
