Inspired by our jaunts overseas were oil drums in varying stages of deterioration greeted us at every turn, we created our own replicas of the discs carved from the tops (or bottoms) as edgy decorative elements. Though the patina we achieved with our gold leaf finish may convince you that these are made of metal, the Gold Cast Oil Drum Wall Discs, which are packaged as a set of four, are made of composite that our artisans made to look jagged like real aging metal would. Very beautiful and we get so many compliments. Table is super light so easy to move around (which I appreciate). However, please be aware that the sloped edges add a complexity of shrinking the usable flat space on top for drinks or anything you want to place on top. I am fairly certain that at some point, someone will place their drink too close to the edge and it will slide right off onto the carpet. This product is a one-of-a-kind functional and natural work of art. You simply cannot get more natural than a stone sink made of petrified wood. Although it’s called petrified wood and was actually natural wood at one point in time, it is now stone. Over thousands of years, the process of fossilization has replaced all the organic materials in the wood with minerals, keeping the structure of the wood, but effectively turning it into stone. Each Petrified Wood sink is unique, no two are alike. The shape and size vary for every piece and can range from 14 to 25 in. in length (side to side) and 11 to 24 in. in width and 4.75 to 7 in. in height. As the sinks are each carved from a trunk of petrified wood, the color can also vary due to the original wood and the different minerals found in the growing places of the trees.
