This knife sharpener is sufficient if you're nervous about the handheld one like I am. I will say, it does not seen to make the knife super sharp, so don't expect slices like Chef Ramsey or anything. Once upon I time I could sharpen my knifes to razor sharpness by hand. Decades later my hands are no longer steady enough to do that. I spent 10 minutes reading the instructions and then ten minutes getting two 8" knives sharper than I could do it by hand. After using it a few more times I'll be able to get a knife sharp in under a minute. Seriously, I think I'll be able to sharpen a knife as fast as a professional chef does with one of their sharpening rods.
