Hand-knotted in a luxurious blend of wool and silk, this runner rug is a commanding addition to Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection. Originating from India, this piece functions as a vibrant, textural narrative that honors historical military portraiture through a contemporary, artistic lens.On the Design:This runner is a magnificent study in pictorial artistry and jewel-toned precision, featuring a life-sized "Sipahi" or cavalryman as its central subject. The figure is rendered with incredible detail, from the textured hussar-style uniform in warm terracotta to the meticulously woven medals and disciplined gaze. Set against a luminous field, the soldier stands as a regal guardian of the space, framed by an elegant border adorned with scrolling floral vines and rose blossoms.Admirers of the craft will note how the intentional use of silk highlights allows the uniform’s braiding and the soldier’s regalia to catch the light, lending a three-dimensional depth to the portrait. This piece transcends traditional floor coverings, functioning as a hand-knotted work of folk art that bridges the gap between 19th-century military history and 21st-century luxury design. It is an unforgettably grand and characterful foundation, ideal for sophisticated hallways, studies, or projects requiring a conversation-starting masterpiece.Custom Capable:All sizes and colors available—inquire for a quote.
