I just love my new cooktop. The design makes it really easy to clean. In terms of performance, I noticed that cook times are a little bit shorter. The gas dial has a wide range, so I can go from very low to high flame. Also having an additional burner is great. I can have multiple meals going at the same time. We liked the "boxy" look of this model as opposed to the "awning" style look of most undercab hoods. We also liked that this had the option for connection to ducting out the back of the hood, which made this easy to duct outside (we didn't have to go up into the cabinet, just ducted straight back outside). Install was fairly easy (just screwed in two "runners" under our cabinets, then slotted the hood onto those runners, screwed in place, and then installed the mesh screens). Overall it runs quietly and does a decent job sucking up fumes from our induction stovetop. If I had a gas range I might opt for something more powerful (but we didn't want too many CFMs as we believe that would have forced us to introduce make-up or return air into our kitchen to meet local codes). I was shocked (though I obviously shouldn't have been) to see that the water and electrical hookups had moved completely, making the install much more complicated for me. On the other hand, the newer leveling procedure is much nicer. Of course, we're still just getting used to it, but I fully expect this new Benchmark version to last at least as long as the old "800" model did, and be just as easy to live with. (Full disclosure, the old one would still be running fine if "someone" hadn't taken a tumble on the open door!) So far, my only quibble (and it's a large one) is that the Delay Start button has been moved to ONLY the app and is no longer on the control panel. At least let it be part of your Favorites settings! The grates feel substantial without being overly tall, and the continuous stainless‑steel surface makes cleaning incredibly easy since the burners are fully enclosed. In terms of performance, I tend to rely on the higher‑BTU burners. They heat quickly and work well for most of my cooking. The lower‑BTU burners, however, take noticeably longer, so I don’t find myself using them often. One small inconvenience is that I have to push down the knobs twice to ignite the flame, which isn’t a deal‑breaker but is worth noting. We’ve had a less than average stove for quite some time. It was getting the job done but we didn’t really know what we were missing. This thing is amazing! Most of the time we can even turn the burners to high because the heat is so abundant. I used to say my wife couldn’t boil water when it came to her culinary capabilities. Temperature is accurate. • Advice (as one does with any new range): Compare oven temp with separate oven thermometer • Audio alert such as the moment when the oven has reached the preheat temp and when bake time is reached, is faint compared to other ovens I have used. Please amplify the alert or allow the user to set the volume on alerts. Some folks may be harder of hearing than others. • Storage drawer is large enough to store unused oven racks as well as (separately acquired) broiler pans. • Warming center (a great feature) on cooktop passed the melted butter test (i.e. keeping butter in melted but not over-heated state) • Instead of two large burners in the front, the cooktop would be much more useful if one of the burners in the front could allow the user to select either a larger burner circumference or a smaller one. Sometimes, a smaller burner is the only one needed. (Tea for two, for example.) • Oven door projects into the room a bit more than I expected, but is not obtrusive for my galley kitchen. • The oven shuts off when the timer reaches the set time. The user should be the one who cancels the bake, not the oven, unless Bosch gives the user an option to shut off when the oven timer reaches the set time. I do not use the oven timer.. Elizabeth R.
