Finally a lip strike long enough!! As you can see, the current lip strike has been drilled many times, so there is no more wood to secure the top part. This extra long strike will absolutely make a difference as I can drill into a different part of the frame. I love that it came with different lengths of screw. It will be a breeze to install.. There were no specifications with the item description so I was hoping it would be a universal fit for my vinyl double hung windows. However, it is not universal. The spacing of the screw holes are narrower than my existing window sash locks, and the back plate is too deep for my windows — this will not fit properly. I’d give 4 stars if the specifications were listed. This will probably work if you have a different window size or a wooden double hung that doesn’t have an existing lock. I wanted something with additional security. I’m keeping this in the original packaging as this will be donated since I can’t use it. The second pic is my existing window for comparison of the screw spacing and size of the back plate. Also please note the lead disclaimer on the back of the packaging.. Shopaholic. Princeton, WI. This is a great product! I was excited to install on bathroom window after I painted, I checked where it would go to try out the lock and Dang it! My windows aren’t level! So I’m going to have to build up one to sit even as the lock is a very secure and tight fit, I didn’t know a keyed window lock existed. Once I figure out how to build up the wood I’ll insert a finished product picture, the picture here shows defect of my frame. Also the key will not come out of lock in the open position. Gail. I had this installed on a very old exterior door that only had a basic gold lock set, it didn’t seem secure at all. This patio lock is made well. I wish I could install it, but my new apartment complex will not allow me to drill into the frame. I will be giving this to my sister to use on her patio door. I will say it is very well made. The locking peg is sturdy and long, so it will secure the door when I stalled.
