I love how open it is. I kind of wish this one came with the step. Im not sure if the cats would use it, though. I already have one, and it has the front opening. My cats are both good size. This ones a little bit easier. I think for cats to go in and out of. Im not sure how long the bottom piece will last as it seems to be more material than hard plastic. I have had this now for about a month and I love it. I plan on getting another one and replacing the other one as they use this one most often. So far I'm loving this automatic litter box. It does a good job of separating waste and the waste bin is fairly large. It came with a box of 45 waste bags as well as a litter mat which was a nice bonus I wasn't expecting. Because it's open on the top, it never fully closes when working so there's no danger of a cat getting stuck. It also has sensors that I tested with my hands to make it stop if it detects something in the box while it's cleaning and the sensors worked well. Wonderful litter box cabinet! I purchased for my LR3. Fits perfectly and there is still space left. In the opening there is a cutout that allows to easily move the litter tray.
