The stopper sits over rather the drain opening rather than inside, so it doesn't work very effectively. I ended up keeping my old stopper and just replacing the stopper control component which was the part that I needed to replace anyway. I had the prior design which was a push-rod design that, 1. didn't work, 2. broke down, and 3. clogged easily.
