I love these fiber clay urn planters and own several of them to plant my flowers and to elevate mums and luminaries in the fall. The planter has a beautiful exterior design. The base bottom does not have drainage holes which would be fine for indoor or covered patio use. However, I VERY carefully drilled several holes in the base to allow water to drain out since I use them outdoors (3 season use). We used these on our back patio and added faux shrubbery to add some greenery. These are metal and VERY sturdy. You could even put bricks or rocks in the base if you live in a windy spot. We did not need to. Inside, there is a medium level area to fill with dirt to plant. So if you were actually putting living plants, you wouldn't have to pay to fill the entire thing with dirt.
