One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! We are very happy with our Backyard Discovery Beaumont 14x12 pergola! The only negative would be the time it took to arrive, which was about six weeks. Otherwise, it is very well made and looks beautiful. You need at least three people to put together. The replacements were packed just as poorly so some got damaged as well but they sent extras so it was not a problem. Sent from the manufacturer so none of that is Wayfairs fault. Instructions were just okay. Not always super clear. Some bolts really wanted to cross thread. Im happy with the look and function. Its not going to keep every drop of water out in a storm but itll do an adequate job. It could be a little sturdier but I dont think you can find better for the price. Im telling everyone about Wayfair customer service. I expected to have to contact the manufacturer myself and be lucky to get a response. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back.
