One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. I found the directions to be sufficient and was able to assemble the pergola properly, in a reasonable amount of time. Allow most of a day to do it. Having two people to assist you makes the construction of the pergola much easier and safer. Particularly important as the various parts are put together and erected. During the day, you can close the louvers to enjoy sun shade; In the evening you can also use the strips light while you relax in your favorite chair! If the weather changes and it starts to rain simply close the louver shut and continue to enjoy your outdoor living area with friends and family.
