It would have been really nice if an outdoor waterproof varnish had been added as this piece is large and hard to move about and will be outdoors in all weather conditions. My only concern was range of the remote, which was not an issue, even at a sharp angle from my bedroom window at roughly 22 feet, so I was pleasantly surprised. I prefer this to a Pet Door because of the Remote option. She did not like pushing through the pet door that I first installed, and this was a great solution at a reasonable price. I also bought a Pressure Sensitive Mat that Chimes when she is inside and approaches the door so that I know when she wants to go out. Looks well made and sturdy.
