The rug is not too thin, we would never use this rug without a rug pad since we have straight linoleum to concrete below. Definitely need a rug pad. The 7x9 is what we purchased and I think it fits the room well with our smaller couch. The rug shipped relatively fast and was delivered well. Takes about 3 days to fully flatten. Getting rugs online is really difficult. We had a thick rug in the space that promoted tripping, was always sliding around due to our big dogs playing and really seemed to pick up the dirt.
