These are beautiful, heavy and solid, weight-wise. While the angle hinge works well providing a large variety of angles, there are two issues they may want to work on: 1) A steeper staircase angle means it is difficult to screw the bottom screw into the rail, as screwdriver access is blocked by the ornate iron, and 2) the same up-down hinge that allows the bracket to work on many angles also has some left/right play in it, due to the tolerances not being exact in the iron work. That results in a slight left/right wobble in the finished rail. Not enough to cause any issues with stability or use, but noticeable. All-in-all a beautiful retro bracket. Jeffrey. Atlantis, FL. Very hard to find narrow base brackets that allow hook part to rotate. This is the one! We used them vertically to put curtains in closet door frame (no more sliding doors for us. This non-standard installation required some modification - basically drilling into the hook part so the screw can carry the modest weight of rod and curtain. Fortunately, the hook is solid metal, not hollow and was able to accept the screw and carry the weight. This is the second time we purchased these brackets for a vertical install for a closet door curtain.
